VALENTINE'S PARTY Seldom 'Is one afforded the opportunity oppor-tunity of witnessing' a sccno of unrivaled unri-valed splendor and gayoty such as was presented last evonlng at tho Colonial Co-lonial dancing academy when tho young ladies of St. Joseph's church displayed their ability as hostesses and charming entertainers In every sense of tho word. The large and spacious hall was transformed into a veritable bower of beauty countless hearts suspended from the colling and festooned from a dainty boll in the center to the four corners of the room, forming a beau, tlful canopy beneath which handsomely handsome-ly gowned ladles nnd woll-groomcrt gentlemen tripped tho light fantastic I to a carefully selected dance program, exceptionally well rondorcd by Salter's Sal-ter's orches'trn. The grand march, led by Mr. J. c. Lynch and Mrs. T. D. Ryan, followed by tho other patron's and patronesses, began promptly at nine o'clock, thus making an appropriate opening for the evening of genuine pleasure. Porhap6 tho most unique feature of the evening, and ono which elicited considerable comment from all present, pres-ent, was largo electrical heart artistically ar-tistically arranged In a conspicuous part of tho hall The soft glow from numerous rod lights made a truly protty effect, and lent an added charm (o tho alroady picturesque scene. In tho opposite corner of tho room a dainty little cozy corner with equally dainty hearts, much in evidence, evi-dence, found many devotees, young and old. About ono hundred and fifty couples enjoyed tho affair, and all pronounced it the success of the social season. All departed with evident reluctance, re-luctance, with the hope that sometime some-time in Ihe near future the young ladies la-dies of St. Joseph's church would again display their ability as capable entertainers.
