Both of I the witnesses denied they had uced : money or had knowledge of any money I being used in connection with Senator j Lorlmer'e election. In his examination t Mr. Hughes persisted in praising Sen- 0- ator Lorlmer, who, he said, was "the & greatest man since tho time of Christ.;' & Mr. Hughes said he had urged every ((j member of tho lower house of the JTf forty-lxth general assembly to aid In nl( 8enator Lorimer'3 election.
