Requin, president of the San Francisco Francis-co Federation of the Shop Employes of the Harrlman lines, said tonight that ho believed a secret vote now being be-ing tuken hero by tho federation would bo unanimous for a strike. "The men all over the country have declared almost unanimously tor a strike unless our conditions are met, Wo aro determined deter-mined that we shall bo recognized as a federation. "Our men will not do business as a craft organization, they will stand together to-gether or not nt all. We will accept no compromise. "Twenty per cent of the omployes of the Mission Bay shops were dropped drop-ped from the pay 'rolls today. The men remaining will work nine hours a day, six das a week." Conference Next Week. KANSAS CITY, Aug. 25. M. F. Ryan, Ry-an, international president of the Brotherhood of Railway Carmen, said this afternoon that a time and place for holding the proposed conference between officers of the Harrlman railroad rail-road system and the International presidents of great shop unions will bo decided tomorrow. Ho believed the conference would be held about the middle of next week. "Understand, wo. are making, and have made, no threats to strike," Bald President Ryan. . Kline, international presidont of the Blacksmiths, that Kline was arranging arrang-ing to hold a conference between Julius Jul-ius Kruttschnltt, vice president of the Harrlman lines, and the five international interna-tional presidents. Earlier in the day, according to press reports from Chicago, Kline was said to have declared he would j not meet Mr, Kruttschnltt and hal wired President Lovett of the Harrlman Harrl-man lines, asking him to meet the five union presidents personally. Vote Favors Strike. PADUCAH, Ky., Aug 25.
