Show FUNDS WERE RAISED FROM LAW EVADERS. Buffalo, N. Y., Jan. 4. Charges that Police Superintendent Regan violated the law In providing funds for the entertainment for the police chiefs of I the country at their annual conen-tion conen-tion in 1909, have been submitted to Mayor Fuhrmann. Tho charges, which are made by John W Griffin, president presi-dent of the New York State Patrolmen's Patrol-men's association, were referred to the police commissioners. Soon after the convention of 1909, the commissioners commis-sioners Investigated the fund raising, and approved Superintendent Regan's action. The charges are renewed by President Griffin, who alleges that some, of the contributors to the fund are notorious violators of the excise laws and that patrolmen who have tried to do their duty have been transferred trans-ferred at the request of the saloonkeepers. |
