Show QJOCIETY BIRTHDAY SURPRISE. A surprise birthday party was given giv-en in honor of Mrs. L. H Steinhauser, at the home of Miss Nellie Carroll, on Grant avenue Friday evening. The eening was spent in a delightful social so-cial manner, Those present were Mr, and Mra. L. W. Steinhauser, Mr. and Mrs. Will Turnbull, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Harris, Mr. and Mrs. Lain Harris, Mrs. John Boyle, Mrs Kelly Luging, Mrs. John Dunham, Mrs. Lottie Harris, Har-ris, Miss Bertha Riley, Miss Lily Harris, Har-ris, Miss Millie Shupe, Miss Mildred Chrlsman, Miss Hary Turnbull, Master Harold Steinhauser, Master Marvin Luging, Masters John and Joseph Boyle. Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Matson, with eastern friends en route from California Califor-nia coast points, passed through Ogden Og-den for Salt Lake this morning where they will be tho guests of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Knox. (Continued on Page Eight.) -oo (Continued From Page Seven ) CHILDREN'S AID SOCIETY The first annual meeting of the Children's Aid socletv was heln yesterday yes-terday afternoon at the home of Mrs Edward BIchsel Five members were retired from the board of directors, according to the mandate of the constitution con-stitution agreed upon at the time of organization Fifteen members constitute con-stitute a full board, one-third of whom j are retired at the expiration of each year and five directors are elected to ! fill the vacancies thus made. At yesterday's meeting Mrs B. R. Robins, Mrs. C. H. Gosling, Mrs. C. A Smurthwalte, Mrs. E. A Littleflcld arid Mrs. John Culley were the five members elected. Mrs. Robins was a new member called to serve on the directorate di-rectorate and the other four were reelected. re-elected. t In tho absence of the president Mrs. J. M Bishop occupied the chair. Ow ing to absence of the secretary from tho city the reading of the annual I report of that officer was postponed Tho treasurer's report was read, show- ' ing $340.75 cash receipts during the past year, disbursements, $200 G7. bal anco now in tho treasury, $140 08. The directors will meet in two . weeks and elect officers for the ensuing en-suing j ear, the secretary will present her annual report and the year's work will be reviewed and plans for future work will be discussed and formulated. The members of the society so-ciety havo worked assiduously for the benefit of needy children and they enter the new year much encouraged with the success thus far obtained and feel much better equipped for the coming com-ing year, owing to the practical experience ex-perience acquired In the past 12 months, All aro deeply imbued with the spirit of hopefulness for the sue- cess of this worthy cause, looking for , no reward except the knowledge of ' acts of sweet helpfulness cheerfully i done. |
