Show IDAHO MEN DID Ti KILLING The Wlnnemucca Star gives the following fol-lowing particulars of the Itnlay murder mur-der and the capture of tho murderers One of tho most atrocious and hiatal hia-tal crimes ovoi committed In Humboldt Hum-boldt county was perpetrated at Im aj about 10 o'clock last Friday night when Jean Qullllcl was si?ot dead and his wife mortally wounded by masked baudlts. Tho assassins, with masks made of flour sacks covering their faces, en-tored en-tored Quintal's saloon, which Is situated sit-uated about a mllo west of tho railroad rail-road station at Imlay, while the owner was counting the money in the cash register and was preparing to close the place for tho night. As near as can be ascertained thero were three of the bandits, one staying at one of tho outer out-er doors while the othor two shot the proprietor and his wife and looted the place. Upon entering the saloon the robbers commanded Qullllcl to throw-up throw-up his hands and when he hesitated ono of the robbors aimed a rifle at him nnd fired, the bullet entering tho left shoulder. Qullllcl then started for the door when a second shot was fired, killing him instantly. Tho fatal bullet bul-let struck the victim close to the right ear and came out at tho loft eye. tearing tear-ing away almost half of tho man's face Aftor killing Qullllcl the assas sins directed their attention to Mrs. Qullllcl. who had Just come from the bedroom In tho back part or the house She was about to enter the barroom when ono of the robbers fired at hor. the bullet entering her back. One of the robbers then plnced a pistol against the head of Mrs. Quintal's brother, the only other person In the I saloon The latter only recently ar- rived from Italy and cannot speak ; English, yet the bandits mad hl.n j understand that they wanted him to locato tho money for them. "You killed papa; don't j kill uncle." j The cash register In the saloon was , emptied and it Is said lhat tho rob- hers carried away a considerable sum j of money that was hidden under a pillow of the bed. Although the robbers rob-bers searched tho body of Quilllcl as ho lay on tho floor thoy overlooked about $400 In coin that was in one of his pockets. After completing their dastardly work the three robbers then mad their escape. ! Two Bandits Captured. Sheriff Lamb was notified of the ' crime by the Imlay authorities and he left on tho first train for tho scene, . taking with him an Indian trailer, , "Skinny" Pascal. On arriving at Im-lav Im-lav the sheriff formed a posse and having found where the robbers had tied tholr horses, at daylight the posse took uu the trail of the bandits, which led towards tho Humboldt rivor. In following the trail cartridges and a mask mado out of a flour snek with the eyeholes lined with cardboard wore found. Shortly after the finding J of these article's a man was seen com-1 lng toward tho posse, evidently looking look-ing for something on the trail. He , was at once put under arrest by Sheriff Sher-iff Lamb, handcuffed and taken along with tho nosso. Tho trail of the rob bers led to the Blakesleo ranch on the river, ' On tho arrival of the posse at the house tho nrlsouer was commanded by the sheriff to call his "partner out and on appearing he was immediately arrested and handcuffed. After making mak-ing a thorough search of theiplace the members of tho posso started back with the ptlsonors to the station at Imlay and nrrlved here on No. c Saturday Sat-urday afternoon. Dr Mangnn was summoned Immediately Imme-diately after the shooting Friday night and managed to catch No. 0, the fast mall train, which passed here at tl o'clock, and on his arrival at Imlay ' at onco went to tho saloon and admin- j lstcred medical aid to Mrs. Qullllcl. ! Tho wounded woman wan brought to i Wlnnemucca on No 4 Saturday morning morn-ing and was placed in the county hospital, hos-pital, where she died about 2:30 yes- terday afternoon. I An autopsy hold today by Dr. OI-1 roux showed that the bull entered the center of her baclc and passed through the liver nnd lodged in the breast. Young Italian Identifies Bandit. Tho men who were arrested' by Sheriff Lamb for the honlblo crime arc woll known, having been camped on tho river at the Blakeslee ranch for some months and claimed to bo running wild horses Ono of tho bandits gave the name of N. R. Urie. He Is only 23 years of age and is from Twin Falls, Idaho. He had been working- hero on the sower and was In Wlnnemucca on th& day beforo tho crime wn.4 committed. Tho othor bandit refused to give his name to the officers, but from papers found on his person when ho Was searched It was ascertained that his name I? J. F. Tranmer. He is about 45 years of rtge! The fellow raised his flour sack mask l as he was looting the cash register and the young Italian caught a I glimpse of his face. An old rubber i coat which Urlo wore was found hanging hang-ing in their cabin at tho ranch where they were arrested. This coat has also been identified by the young Italian. Ital-ian. The evidence already gathered against Urie and Tranmer, although mainly circumstantial. Is practically conclu3lo of their guilt. When their cabin was searched a tobacco can was found bonea,th the flooring, containing a $5 piece, several dollars In quarters and halves and a handful of nickels ana dimes, Just such kind of money as would likely have been In the cash register of Clio saloon. A 30-30 rifle was also found in tho bandits' camp, and au empty shell or that caliber was picked up at the place where the bandits ban-dits picketed their horses on tho ntsht of tho crime. A bullet of the same size was taken from Mrs. Quintal's body and another bullet of like size was picked up p tlto floor of the saloon. Sheriff Lnmb returned to Imlay last evening to direct the hunt Tor the .third bandit, whom it Is believed is still in that vicinity. The theory of tho officers is that the third nian ie-turned ie-turned to Imlay on foot after the crime was committed, while the other two bandits mounted their horses and rode to their camp. Suspect Is Arrested. Sheriff Lamb returned from Imlay this afternoon accompanied by Constable Con-stable Rich. Thev brought with them a man named Duncan, who was arrested ar-rested on suspicion of being connected with tho crime. Duncan has hoon around Imlay since the 3d of this month and was not seen around his usual haunts for a couple of hours following fol-lowing the bold-up arid murder.
