Advices from the far east report the seizure of the Japanese sealer KofujI Maru hy n Russian patrol cruiser off the Kommandorofskl, or Copper Island, rockeries. The seizure of the schooner has ciused a storm of protest in Japan. Shortly before it took place Russia gave notice to Japan of an extension of the limits of territorial waters, and tho JapnnoBo claim that the schooner was on tho high seas outside the proper prop-er limit when seized.
