Show REPORT FROM THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH Reports from local health officers offi-cers for the. week ending December Decem-ber 21, indicate that influenza is still wide-spread throughout the State. A total of 9,434 cases of influenza was reported for the week as compared with 17,023 for the previous week, indicates that the influenza is probably "burning itself out." Some areas however, did not report the exact number of cases. The health officer offi-cer reported, for instance, that in Mayfield, 50 per cent of the population, popu-lation, Gunnison 70 per cent of the population, Centerfield, 50 per cent, and South Sanpete 25 per cent of the population had been affected by the epidemic. The health officer of Vernal reported, re-ported, "many caseg of influenza." influ-enza." For the first time in the history his-tory of the health record for the Department of Health "no cases of whooping cough" were reported report-ed for the week. Davis County reported one case ot poliomyelitis. The patient is a boy 4 years of age. This is the first1" new case of this disease having its onset during the last. 30-day period. Two caes of pulmonary tuberculosis tuber-culosis were reported from Salt Lake County and one each from Logan City and Cache County. Ten cases of acute rheumatic fever were reported for the week one of the patients was listed as a nonresident. The totals for the week were as follows: chickenpox, 91; poliomyelitis, polio-myelitis, 1; influenza, 9,434; measels, 32; German measels, 3; mumps, 10; pneumonia, 8; scarlet scar-let fever, 22; tuberculosis, 4; gonorrhea (resident) IS; gonorrhea gonor-rhea (nonresident) 10; sypilis (resident) 10; syphilis (nonresident) (nonresi-dent) 1, and rheumatic fever, 10. |
