Show Grub Program Will Continue Several Utaah counties are contemplating con-templating a continuation of the cattle grub control program this winter, Dr. G. F. Nnowlton, Utah Extension Entomologist, reported today as he announced that an estimate of rotenone needs for the state has been submitted to the federal government to insure an adequate supply of this valuable but scarce insecticide. Information received from dairymen, livestock owners, and farmers who used rotenone to control catttle grubs last winter, Indicates that good results were achieved. The method is simple and effective, while the cost is not excessive. Cattle free from grubs are more valuable as beef animals and dairy cattle produce more milk. Calves grow better if not annoyed by the heel fly, which Is the adult insect of the cattle grub and is so pestiferous during i the spring and early summer, he explained. |
