Show SGGUTERS OUTLINE PUS FOR YEAR i An expanded university of scouting was planned, dates set for the 1945 summer camping program pro-gram and committee reports given giv-en at the quarterly meeting of the Cache Valley Boy Scout council Sunday in Logan, according accord-ing to Executive Preston V. Pond. Dr. John C. Carlisle, chairman of the leadership training committee, com-mittee, presented a review of the recent university of scouting and : recommended that it be expanded next year. Instead of two central sessions, training courses will be I held in Logan, Lewiston and Hyrum, and Rock Springs, Wyo. ! A camping leaders training course, to be conducted in Feb-j Feb-j ruary or early in March also was j set' up. I Camp Hunt of Bear Lake will I open for the 1945 season July 9, followed July 20 by Camp New Fork on Newfork Lake, Wyo. They will run concurrently until un-til mid-August. The annual Bridg-er Bridg-er Hike into the Windriver moun-tains moun-tains of Wyoming will take place the final week in August, according accord-ing to a schedule prepared by J. R. Johnson, chairman-Council chairman-Council scouts were asked by the Utah state forestry-fire warden's ward-en's office , to make a survey in Cache valley on December 26 to determine how many Christmas trees were unsold- This will be used as a guage to determine how many permits to issue next year. , Troops were assigned in each community for the count. An inspection of all troop headquarters by the Health and Safety committee has been planned plan-ned for February. Plans for a physical fitness institute, to be conducted in February or March also were presented by Chairman H.' B. (Hy) Hunsaker. " Dr. H. Loran Blood reported that 30 per cent of the troop re-registration, inventory and roll call is complete. He also revealed that the 1944 membership goal of 2300 had been exceeded by 42 scouts and a goal of 2500 was set for 1945. The Smithfield district was presented the sheepskin banner ban-ner for being the first to complete com-plete re-registration. - ; Reports also were given on the "minuate man" activities; Boy's Life subscription drive; advancement advance-ment and the high school of scouting. Dr- Blood recommended that a drive be made to advance all tenderfoot scouts so they will be eligible to participate in the merit badge "pow wow" to be held this spring at Utah State Agricultural college. |
