Show OtH) Football Men Battling For Top Positions Coach Dick Romney's Utah Aggie Ag-gie football squad took to their gigantic fieldhouse for a bristling practice session Thursday afternoon, after-noon, as king weather again intervened inter-vened during the current training campaign. Even though the Aggies are idle this weekend as other Big Seven elevens go into action, Coach Romney showed through the afternoon after-noon program that his charges need plenty of work before meeting meet-ing Colorado university October - 12 at the Aggie stadium. A lengthy scrimmage was on the docket ior Friday and today a lighter drill will take place. Romneymen on the injured list are fast regaining form and it will be only a matter of a few more days until they are in tip-top shape once again. Marvin Bell and Vernon Bsnnion right halfbacks, half-backs, who are vieing for starting honors, are ready to go again and Freddie Allen is rapidly hurrying up his return, but when Allen gets back he will have to get in the fight with Bill Twitchell and veteran Freddie Bohman for the left halfback berth. All are being fTitran M-ianppc hv the Aeeie mentor to show their best football in an effort to bring the best possible playing combination to light. With the rise of Eddie Penn's stock at right tackle Romney is giving him a chance to prove his worth along with Ray Watters. They will alternate at the post. Another change in the backfield saw Melvin Gruwell moving up to the second team post at quarterback quarter-back in head of Mel Manning, El-man El-man Caldwell and Tommy BealL |
