Show College Official Feted Tuesday Eric Johnson Serves For 30 Years " Celebrating 30 years of serviec in the secretary's office at the Utah State Agricultural college, Eric Johnson, head of the college purchasing department was feted by bookstore and purchasing department de-partment employes Tuesday af-tu'ison af-tu'ison when the group presented present-ed him with a huge cake. Inseparable from the history of the college bookstore Mr. Johnson has seen many changes take place not only in the school itself but in the bookstore. "When I accepted the job as clerk and accountant in the secretarys' office on Oct. 5, 1913, the bookstore book-store was half of the secretary's office. Since then it has been shifted from one room to the other and one building to another, an-other, having its counters in nearly every building of the campus. cam-pus. For several years it was in the commons building and then moved to the basement of the main building. With the invasion of the Army Air Forces the book store was moved to the former band room and there it will stay, at least for the duration." His first job was under John L. Coburn when he was employed em-ployed at the secretary's office for the first time. In 1924 he was made assistant secretary and last June was named purchasing agent for the college, the position posi-tion which he now retains. "Changes on the campus have been so many and taken place so rapidly the last few years that thirty years have gone by so quickly that I can't realize it," stated Mr. Johnson explaining explain-ing the time away. He was graduated from USAC in 1924. Not only prominent in college activities acti-vities Mr. Johnson is connected with civic and religious activities activi-ties being a member of the Lions civic group. Mr. and Mrs. Johnson, the former Melba Morgan, and child, ren Blaine and Maurine, have been prominent- Logan residents for many years. |
