Show Registration Jumps at AC Coeds Dominate First Day's Activities More than 800 students began studies at Utah State Agricultural college today following and unexpectedly unex-pectedly heavy registration Monday, college officials reported. Registrar William H. Bell reported re-ported that more than 800 registration regis-tration books had been issued when registration ended for the day at 4 p. m., Monday and that many more had applied for books today. Fall quarter enrollment is expected to swell ebove that of last year. For the first time in recent years women students were predomin-ent predomin-ent in the crowds which participated partici-pated in registration day activities. Normally, the student body may have almost twice as many men as women, but the rations appear more than reversed this year. Including many 17-year-old students, stu-dents, the number of men registrations regis-trations was higher than had been estimated, however. Some 1300 service men also are on the campus, camp-us, and the proportion of men civilian students is expected to increase in-crease with the later registration of some students now in farm work. Monday's activities included a tour of the campus conducted by faculty guides, an informal program pro-gram at the college amphitheater, and a reception at the Commons building. iPointing out' that the campus tour was of interest to both old and new students because of changes made at the college during the summer, Moyle Q. Rice, assistant assis-tant prophessor of English, explained ex-plained wartime adaptations at the school and assured new students that adequate facilities are available avail-able for all types of civilian programs pro-grams despite the influx of service men. Martha P .cerson of Logan, vice president oi the student body, wel- " corned the students and outlined activity plans for the coming year. Other activities during the week will include the annual president's assembly Wednesday at 11 a. m. in the college chapel. Dr. E. G.
