Show RICHMOND BIGSTOESS 'VYinners of Awards Announced An-nounced Many Special Guests of Nation-wide fame attend Show and Dinner Meeting. ' Purebred dairy cattle from the Utah State Industrial school dominated dom-inated entrants at the twenty-seventh twenty-seventh annual Black and White show held at Richmond, Thursday. Following a month of fear and anxiety as to the weather conditions condi-tions the minds of the directors were eased as they conducted the highly successful show on a beautiful beau-tiful day. The usual display of those large black and white Hostein cattle which have helped to make a steady income for Cache dairymen dairy-men was viewed by many and judges were required to examine the animals with a critical eye in order to place them in their proper pro-per order of perfection. Reference was made by the judges to the fine condition of the animals in view of the hard winter win-ter and scarcity of feed.. A dinner conducted at noon for officials of the day and special guests was one of the highlights of the show. Speaches were made by Tracy Welling and. Dr. E. E. 1 Monson of Salt Lake City; Dr. John T. Caine ILL ol umcagu. Illinois; Ill-inois; J. C. Penney, founder of the company bearing his name, who is also the owner of several large dairy and horse farms in Missouri and New York states. Encouragements ana: commendations commenda-tions were heaped upon the young men and women of the valley who are taking so much interest in the dairy business. They were praised as being a great help to their fathers for bringing to the farms the latest ideas in the care, selection se-lection and breeding which must be followed in order to raise -the and types of animals. Glen Householder of Battleboro, Vt director of extension service and field work for the national standard of the various breeds association, complimented Dtah dairymen upon the line udders: "the heart ol muK pruuui.ii, their cows, declaring the animals shown were superior in this respect to any he had seen. Ivan Aughary of Portland, Ore., association field man for the seven western states, told a large crowd of spectators that he was pleasantly surprised to find such fine cattle on display after a severe se-vere winter and a critical feed shortage. Horse nulling contests were among the most popular events of the show. The team of LaMarr Spackman of Richmond took first in the medium weight division, and Lamont Bair's team of Richmond Rich-mond was first in the heavy class.
