The Second ward Relief Society So-ciety was re-organized and the following officers were presented for sustaining vote by Mrs. Lillie P. Weeks of the Stake Relief Society presidency: Mrs. Vilate Lowe, president; Mrs. Grace Chambers, first counselor; Mrs. Leone Elwood, sC0nd counselor, and Mrs. Bessie Nilson, secretary-treasurer. secretary-treasurer. Retiring officers were Tacy Chambers, Althea Perkins. The Second ward Primary was re-organized with Mrs. Ceda Smith of the primary Stake board presenting the new officers for a sustaining vote: Martha J. Petersen, Peter-sen, president; Mrs. Edna P. Petty, Pet-ty, first counselor; Mrs. Lillian T. Chambers, second counselor, and Mrs. Phyllis Blanchrd, se. cretary-treasurer. Retiring officers were Elizabeth Gittins, president; Mary Hansen and Alice Mather, counselors. Restrictions on use of taxicabs in New York City will save 17 million taxi miles annually, as well as 428 million tire miles, 15,-000 15,-000 new tires, the same number of recaps and 10 million gallons of gasoline. Corporal Will Kross of Irause Hill Field, was guest of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Facer Sunday. Miss L. Morris of Rosette, and Miss Barie Petersen, were guests of Mrs. Delia Peterson Sunday. Orson Callister, of Richfield, Mrs. Mary Hale, of Blackfoot, Idaho, spent a few days visiting with relatives. Miss Lena Smith of Salt Lake i City, is visiting with Mr. and i Mrs. Roy Smith this week. Mrs. La Veda Griffiths spent last we'-k in Salt Lake City with her daughter Mrs. Don Edwards Jr- Mr. and Mrs. Max Fonnesbeck and son of Salt Lake City, were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Seth Godfrey on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Rich, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Rich and Mr. and Mrs. Theo Geary, attended a funeral fun-eral at Morgan for Mr. Rich's brother on Monday Mr. and Mrs. Don Johnson of Brigham City, spent the week end visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Gyllenskog and family. Mrs. Venna Tippets spent the week end at Ogden with Mr. and Mrs. Leland Schaub. Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Toolson and daughter, of Ogden, spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. John 1'. Toolson and family Sunday. Mrs. Sam Tout has accepted a position at Ogden in the TJ. S. army office. Mrs. Emma R. Hansen has been appointed by the board members, replacing Mrs. Katie H. Cragun, who recently resigned. Mrs. Mary Mortenscn of Long Beach, Califronia, Mr. and Mrs. Harold White, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, of Salt Lake' City, were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Lorin Low Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Glenn and family of Ogden, spent Sunday Sun-day here visiting with Mr. and Mrs. William A. Petty. Miss Loray Milligan and Miss Craol Ward of Logna, spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Weeks and family. Mr. and Mrs. William Moose-man Moose-man are visiting with relatives at Salt Lake City and Escalante for two weeks. The Book-Luree club held their first meeting of the year Friday afternoon at the home of then-president, then-president, Mrs. Parley Winn. A business meeting was held and Mrs. Roma Low gave a review of the book "Frenchmen's Creek" by Daphne Du-Maurier. Mrs. Ted Rosengreen was a special guest. Twelve members were present, refreshments being served by Mrs. Winn. The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Roma Low. H. Randall Hillyard, son of Postmaster and Mrs. Hazen Hill-yard, Hill-yard, is home on a furlough from Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He has just completed a course at the officers' candidate school and participated in graduation exercises after 16 weeks of training. Randall has now received his commission as second lieutenant in field artillery and has been assigned to Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas. Tex-as. He left here for army service i Rebruary 10th. 1 Mrs. Roy Smith entertained at ' a dinner party Friday afternoon in honor of Dr. and Mrs. Leon Smith of Chicago, who have been visiting with friends for a month. Those included were Mrs. Laura Smith, Mr. and Mrs. L. W. McCann, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Mosemann and family, Dr. and Mrs. Leon Smith. The afternoon was spent in visiting and music. The Smithfield 4-H Pheasant club received second place in the State of Utah, in a per cent raised rais-ed and quality Under the sponsorship spon-sorship of George Thornley Jr. Mr. and Mrs. Hazen Hillyard and son, Lieutenant Randall Hillyard, Hill-yard, spent Wednesday at Salt Lake City visiting friends. Mrs. Morris Hansen entertained the members of her bridge club Friday evening, prizes being won by Mrs. Keith Meikle and Mrs. Edgar Hansen. Lunch was served at the Modern Drug to 12 club members. Walter Gordon is receiving treatment ?t the Cache Valley hospital. |
