| Show helper burglars in county jail sheriff W K heary henry returned Wendes day evening from salt lake having in his custody edward leland elbert minor and arthur baty who will have to stand trial for at least two of the burglaries committed in this county recently leland was arrested arr sted at provo monda night in company with a fellow giving his name as joe turner under very suspicious circumstances when discovered by provo officers they were working on the back door of a main street store leland told the officers that he and turner came to provo with two other men who carried dynamite and safe cracking tools but his story is not believed beli eyed as nobody answering rhe the description given by him could he located minor and baty were arrested at salt lake tuesday for carrying concealed weapons and were serving a 30 day sentence when sheriff henry i found them A large quantity of the goods stolen from the lowenstein mercantile store at er on the night of september 28 was found in their possession and in salt lake pawn shops and baty was clothed in some of the garments stolen from th the southern utah section house in this city the day following the lowenstein burglary whether the burglars came from helper to price or whether baty joined minor at salt lake after the two burglaries in this county is not knon as leland is the only one inclined to talk and he has little to say of the other two but admits that he assisted in committing the helper burglary officer snow of provo last night telephoned sheriff henry that minor alinor was an ex having served time in the california penitentiary turner who was arrested with leland was not brought to price but will be arraigned in provo on the barge of attempt to burglarize ane store they were trying t to enter when captured the accused were arraigned before justice meleton Mu leton yesterday afeei noon when leland plead guilty to second degree burglary baty to third degree and minor plead not guilty the latter will have his bearing hearing at 7 30 tomorrow evening baty B ity this morning went with deputy john bryner to a point near the stockyards and dug up some promissory notes belonging to tom farras farms and stolen from the southern utah section house sept A G gutheil has received word from the midland idland Al trail officials to the effect that a representative of the blue book official guide for transcontinental tra q highways is coming over the mid midland land trail tomorrow or next day on a tour of inspection in view of the fact that the blue book hag has never been very friendly to the midland trail the officers of the desire that the books representative make the trip mr bir gutheil is asked to seo see that the representative is taken from this city to provo over the midland trail green river road boosters will bring him from that city to price gutheil Ou theil broeker wish to an bounce that they are carrying a full line of winter la probes caps and gloves as well as everything eh else in the automobile line |
