Show thiis ali is pla man n has the rist idea desiring to know which was the best auto route between denver and salt sai 1 1 lake W B taylor of salt lake manager of the sharman automobile company recently made the eastward trip over the midland trail and returned via the lincoln highway he ile found both roads so good that he thinks the partisans of both routes should quit knocking of the midland trail mr taylor says on leaving salt lake we found the best of roads to spanish folk foik canyon going up the tho canyon the road was not all bad most of it be ing high gear work from the summit to colton the roads are fine and going down price canyon the roads for mountain roads were good and the scenery was fine we stopped at price the first day and leaving the nest next morning found fine roads to big springs prom from there to green river the roads were poor lota lots of dust and chuck holes making ten miles an hour fair driving time from green river to thompson springs the road is pretty good and the nearer we got to grand junction the more the roads lin improved proved we made tho trip from price to grand junction a distance of miles in sixteen hours driving time take it as a whole the road is a good one and the scenery cannot be improved upon I 1 would strongly adv advise so tourists to use the tle route for tho scenery is more than worth the few hardships it took us five days I 1 to reach denver without rushing matters then to show bis his fair mindedness I 1 he begies ches the lincoln highway the winding up with another anto to following ilowe g boost boost for the midland trail we returned home by the lincoln highway in three days we found better time could be made because there were not as many grades and faster aster time tinie can be made over the long level stretches of country the rods mads are perhaps a little better to make time on on the first day out we made rock river a distance of miles on the second day we reached rock springs a distance of miles and on the third day rea reached salt lake a distance of miles we enjoyed the trip ovel ovet both routes and I 1 want to r say ay th the e roads were much better than we expected to find in comparing the two routes it is only fair to say that better time can be made over the lincoln highway lut the scenery on the midland trail isan is an incentive that should make the route popular |
