Show mrs peterson was 89 on february 28 mrs lizzie peterson was a youngster of five the day her father lifted her to his shoulders so that she could see the first train ever to come into morgan as it puffed around the bend since the railroad came to morgan in 1869 that made mrs peterson 89 years of age on feb 28 of this year and though slid sh has been ill III most of the winter sh sha reported tuesday t that ha t she is feeling better every d day ay and is now able to be up 1 and around mrs airs peterson was born in richville a daughter of frederick and emma morris kingston she married james J peterson and to them were bom boin eight children five of whom are living they are mrs emma london morgan amorgan J duane petal peterson son Ri cliville mrs metta aletta gibbs salt lake mrs airs myrtle egbert clearfield and mrs airs nell ridge echo she has 23 grandchildren and 47 great grandchildren in the span of her years mrs airs peterson has known this valley when there were only a few log houses here she remembers the first brick building a school and she noted that in her youth the children attended school only during warm weather she also remembers the time when she and other children had neither shoes nor stockings and she recalls the many hardships suffered by the pioneers ot 1 the he valley mrs peterson has busied herself with handiwork and she says her house is full of the products of her hands hand quilts crocheting knitting and sewing she joined the relief society when she was 14 and was active in the organization until III health prevented her from attending its mee mrs peterson ended our interview by remarking king that she is the oldest person in morgan where she has lived for the past 30 years and though her great age might indicate that she is an original pioneers she says she is just it a daughter of the pioneers s |
