Show scribe visits fair says it was excellent by daisy daily crouch to really enjoy th fair and to be able to examine leisurely tho the fine things exhibited there one should go bright and early on the first day so when this news newa reporter aril alved ved on the grounds thursday morning ft a very small crowd had bad gathered the If enefer arid and morgan girls softball teams were playing the runoff run off game on the diamond but not being a baseball fan I 1 headed straight for the exhibition building anil and dently learned later that henefer won the game 6 to 5 judging in the home economics department had bad been conducted wednesday and the booths were glowing with blue and red ribbons one get close to handle the exhibits for the booths now are now i failed ailed oft off and the spectators must view the entries from a distance first glance at the foods was one of disappointment for surely there were only about halt half as many exhibits as in previous fairs what there was was exceptionally good and almost everyone display eat the blue ribbon in this booth the he outstanding exhibit was the decorated lec orated cake of mrs florene ileaner EI Il elner pale green and pink with white birthday ca candles and the fair of 51 written on it a sure winner again in the sewing depart department in ent the entries were noticeably fewer here was some very fine handwork especially attractive were the quilts quills of mrs airs harriet tonics tanks and mrs airs matilda peterson and a chenille rug perfectly harmonized in blue and two shades of brown entered by mrs airs dewilt harding the flower display was not as i large as in former years and com corn ing to the 4 il club booth the spectator was pleased tor for truly here was something to look at tho the work of Ws this group Is outstanding and the articles the gials have completed this summer shows good leadership A booth which attracted considerable attention was the one sponsored by the high school art an students under the direction of sir mr and mrs afro dark clark wright this was for exhibition only and the paintings shown were beautiful there were about 70 pictures scenes of the desert ships flowers mountains and the four seasons and each one received varied opinions according to the taste of at the person viewing the pictures the stake primary booth was interesting because it showed the complo completed ted work of at the primary children during the past summer no housekeeper could resist the temptation to linger finger at the fruit and vegetable display such onions such potatoes such well such everything that Is green and edible not to mention the morgan valley krown grown fruits time was passing so over to the poultry building the reporter hurried well this was more lively turkeys gobbled ducks quac quacked kek all and d occasionally a rooster crowed and the hens kept up a continuous con tinous scratching and murmuring the judges were busy examining each bird and vie nelson the supervisor of this department told the reporter that eliat this year topped them all in the number of entries the building could hardly holdi hold all the poultry rabbits pigeons and pets the future farmers I 1 were given much praise for the success of 0 this turn out leaving this lively scene to the music of quack quack and cock cocka a 1 doodle do the next stop was in the sheep shed where were all the sheep heep only three pens arid and these were by future farmers we realize that the sheep men are busy ha hauling tiling their iambi to market the first pen contained black faces their noses were as sleek ind and shiny RS as seal skin big fat and very good to look at next came the hogs bogs first there were nine little white piglets pig lets then a brown mamma as big as a bear and a hog bog that waa the biggest hunk of 0 pork chop s aver ever seen but as in the sheep building the pens were mostly empty the horse stalls were almost ein empty apty pty but outside the judges were examining a number of 0 very fine horses horse i of all shades and sizes it was uie ole gentle eyed jerseys and the more sturdy Holst elfis that intrigued this reporter tor for the first time in 38 beava of 0 country life 11 e she realized that cows could d b be e p pretty r e t d disdainful 1 s d kinfu 1 0 or r e even v e i I 1 coul have e sn sneering e e r ir ity f faces a e e s A attendants t and being almost exhausted by this time believe me that seat scat was waa wel welcome corne I 1 noticed that the spectators were almost all women and wondered why until someone sam said the men were over watching the horse judging the jersey calves were being led around the ring paul harding seemed to be having trouble with his big exhibit for the critter just stand on ats feet all the coaxing pushing pulling and gentle kicks were of no avail lie ile rolled on his back with his feet up in the air went through all kinds ot at cont contortions contortion but just got gat up and finally dually to th the e amusement 0 of the life spectators was disgustedly dragged out of sight after the calves came the b bulls A kafour our year old holstein with I 1 freckles r eck on hla his nose hose as ag thick as aa any little ittle girls and belonging to august A gust rose was judged the grand champ lon ion ile he posed while being judged as gracefully as any model displaying the latest frocks the junior champion bull Is also owned by august rose the beat of all was the small boys boya leading their calves these were vere the future farmers these little hunks of veal are really something to see I 1 mean the calves there were eight in all and I 1 was informed by a dairyman sitting next to me that the face as well as aa a straight back and sturdy legs plays a great part in the judging by this time the primary children were gathering for the parade 0 a over to the field to get a of the costumes there was everything out of the nursery rhyme book and that was waa the theme of the parade north morgan led with their group and featured miss allas muffett south morgan came next with peter pumpkin eater richville with rub a dub dub porterville had the old woman with a shoe slide little boy blue
