| Show LETS HAVE ACTION we were beginning to think that morgan county was forgotten land as far as attention from the state road commission was concerned tuesday morning however we fealt a little more kindly toward road builders when we received a notice to contractors for erection of the bridge on highway U between morgan city and the milton richville road for months now numerous residents of morgan county have been inconvenienced because of failure of the road commission to replace the bridge that was demolished by heavy equipment because this small bridge lia has s not been replaced people living on the south side of canyon creek now have to travel up through the porterville area to reach morgan city necessitating many miles of additional travel the call for bids on construction of the bridge did not come any too soon the seriousness of the situation was brought to our attention last week with the information that a portion of the road between richville and porterville had been washed out and is now impassable this now means that residents of that area are becoming even more isolated its not too fantastic a possibility that other portions of the highway may be damaged with the current heavy rains and if this happens morgan county residents may well resort to helicopter travel to and from the area in question and the city of morgan bids are to be opened on august A 24 and it is to be hoped there will be no dilly dallying around after bids are let this situation is serious and action is needed |
