Show 49 VERSION OF MORGAN FAIR IS TERMED FINEST EVER STAGED another morgan county fair has ome come and pone gone and always the comments have been this one q he be best ever this one is the jest best ever can he truthfully said P of the lm 1949 fair so go many things went to make this fair t air an outstanding one ll 11 the oiling of the road new modern rest rooms allowing no cars between the space surrounding the grandstands was not one of the least improvement children were in no danger of being hit by cars and parents appreciated this above all things and the holding of the fair for two days only seemed to meet with the approval of everyone this gave the exhibitors more time to get their entries in without so much loss of time the most enjoyable activity of the fair would be hard to point out but certainly the one that reached the hearts of the women folk was the colorful primary childrens parade from all wards came the young people gaibel in every kind of costume imaginable headed by a beautiful blue and white many tiered cake reminding the fairgoers to give their pennies to the childrens hospital drawn by some of best crop the parade out until the arena seemed to be full of floats bicycles baby buggies and wild indians A group of 11 boys and girls dressed in indian costumes stopped in front of the grandstand to dance for those watching the parade the maypole the old women who lived in a shoe mary quite contrary mary and her little lamb were only a few of the nursery rhymes le ie presented in the parade A pinto pony and a float with a lot of little puppies delighted the hearts of the smaller children the primary workers are to be commended for their work in putting over this thi interesting activity each child in the parade was presented with a balloon by the and as the children marched around the aiena with the balloons floating overhead they made a very colorful picture A new attraction was the midget laces this was a novel feature and caused much excitement all in all the fair was voted the best ever and th the e fair board and county coni commissioners mission ers are to be congratulated for the way in which this much looked forward to annual event was carried out eighty seven girls participated in the 4 lii l 11 groups in foods clothing and home furnishings twenty six girls participated in in the style dress review and 46 in the dress parade winners Vin neis selected to ic ie present morgan county at the state fair fail in salt lake city commencing september le are as follows first year clothing annette compton kay rich kay winters and evelyn brough second year clothing carolyn rich lola bennett and connie adams third year clothing rosemary connell georgia anderson fourth year clothing jocile giles and shirley sommers fifth year clothing leah larsen enid hulet and ladon palmer style dress review winners lucille francis and lois dickson foods club group exhibits first year peterson group mrs hugo olsen leader second year slide group dorothy leader home furnishing charlene Char lenc francis and mildred carter individual demonstrations nancy hammond rosemary connell and georgia anderson awards were given by the lions club to the home furnishing club charlene Charl cne francis and mildren carter being presented with tw two sets of scissors the awarded kay winters a mix master for receiving aw points in the food group and leah larsen a set of scissors for outstanding exhibits at the county fair comments from the judges were that they had never seen a better exhibit for first and second year girls additional winners will appear appeal in next weeks news |
