Show fruit arrives here for school canning superintendent louis W christensen announced today that a car load of pears has arrived in morgan and is at the canning center to be processed by the school lunch committee later latel to be distributed among 40 school districts next week half a car load of apples will arrive and be made into apple sauce the fruit comes from washington the pears will be halved and placed in no 10 cans one gal cans 70 bushels in all day and night shifts will work on the project and it is expected that extra help will be needed in peeling the fruit the fruit will be distributed to each district on the basis of the number of school lunches served during the past year and each district will pay its share of the cost cost of canning the product last year a car load of figs was processed in morgan and the local center has received comments on the very fine job that was done with them there are only four districts in tile the state equipped to can for school lunches and morgan is one of the best |
