Show it s time to think of dirt moving practices As soon as crops are off the land and machinery can be arranged for failers f aimers of morgan county will be going ahead with dirt moving agricultural conservation practices says mark thackeray chairman of the I 1 morgan county agricultural conservation committee he advises farmers of the county to begin making arrangements for carrying out these practices if they already done so there royy be no difficulty in obtaining power machinery for dirt moving practices and technical help may be available but it is better to be sure said the county chairman to be eligible for assistance under the agricultural conservation program these practices must meet programs specifications farmers planning to carry out these practices should know what the specifications ficat ions are or make arrangements for help from the county ACA of fice pra practices which do not meet specifications are not eligible for agricultural ri conservation program ms assistance si this can be avoid avoided ed by carefully checking plans with the county ACA committee the chairman advises for land leveling the construction of dams dikes terraces and drainage ditches along with other dirt moving practices definite specifications have been set up so that the completed practice will be effective in conserving soil and water where the farmer have the machinery early arrangements with some one to do the work is recommended to avoid postponement of needed jobs it is not too early to visit the county ACA office or to talk to a committeeman about dirt moving practices to be carried out this fall the alie chairman advises |
