Show military rites conducted for two milton men impressive joint graveside military services for mgt chester robert olsen and mgt henry burton nelson were conducted at tile the milton cemetery saturday september 11 at p in by bishop clifford of the milton ward assisted by the veterans of foreign wars norris burton nelson post and the american legion post 0 ca the invocation was offered ba by james T palmer set N belsons nelsons Nel e I 1 sons grave wa was s dedicated b by y joseph and mgt alsens grave was dedicated by paul nelson two musical numbers though deepening trials and the lord Is my aly shepherd were rendered by a quartette composed of ralph carter frank smith john johnson and woodrow giles accompanied by mrs john johnson the speaker was herbert whittier commander lloyd warner of the vl V F IV was in charge of the im military gitary ceremonies A final air salute was given by two army airplanes from the salt lake base sergeant olsen was killed in action december 1 1914 in germany ile he was a member of company three infantry ile he was born october 18 19 1910 1916 in milton a son of carl A and hazel louise madsen olsen ile he resided in morgan before entering the service attended morgan schools and was graduated from morgan high school in 1935 ile he was well known for his work in young farmer groups stock judging and other phases of agriculture he was employed for four years with the union pacific railroad and for two years at the ogden arsenal he entered the service december 12 1942 at fd fort rt douglas and trained at camp howie texas after attaining a sergeants rating he trained seven infantry groups at claybourne la although he was asked to remain in the united states to train infantry he le ie quested combat duty and landed overseas september 1 1944 t ile he is survived by his parents and these ther e brothers and sisters herbert C olsen alton B olsen oisen and mrs lucille williams all of morgan mrs renalda whitbeck of salt lake city and mrs ed harbertson of ogden sergeant nelson was killed in action at lemy lorraine france on november 15 1911 1914 1 lie ile was born in milton december 21 1922 the son of walter C and nellie elizabeth little nelson ile he attended morgan county schools and was graduated from morgan high school where he played basketball ile he was an elder eider and a ward teacher in the milton ward he was employed with his father on their farm before he entered the armed services he was inducted into the army november 29 20 1943 at fort douglas and was sent overseas in august 1914 ile he is survived by his parents and the following brothers brother and sisters grant nelson homer nelson carl nelson kenneth W nelson all of milton mrs florence hill of washington terrace mrs ethel willie and sirs mrs madia jacques of layton and mrs nina 0 ogden of ogden the norris burton nelson V F IV post was nailed in honor of sergeant nelson and his brother norris A nelson who was killed over november 14 1943 |
