Show GUN PACKING CAR THIEVES TIT apprehended BY POLICE an early morning call from a transient to sheriff bernard dahlquist resulted in apprehension of two gun packing car thieves near enterprise tuesday morning the transient was walking along the highway when a large six wheel dump truck passed him about a half mile up the road the truck came to a sudden stop when the transient reached the truck he be found two men bending ove over r the engine ile he volunteered to help them and in trying to push the truck the coat of one of the men opened displaying a gun tied to his waist according to the transient he became very suspicious and advised the men that the engine had bad overheated over heated and it would be impossible to start the truck with that the two men ran across a field and disappeared into the bushes growing along the river when sheriff dahlquist arrived he found the truck abandoned and no trace of the men to this point the truck had not been reported as stolen and sheriff dahlquist was unable to find the nien men he went back to morgan where he told patrolman ted london of the truck the two men went back to seek further for the men and in the meantime word came to them that the truck had been stolen from a sand and gravel company in ogden at a in the two men came back to the road just as the sher iff and mr air london were driving by they were arrested and one fellow was found armed with a 43 45 automatic one of the men was a 17 year old boy the other was william maine blaine 16 G of glendale california upon being questioned by authorities they admitted the theft and stated that their intentions were to drive the truck to omaha they were not aware of the fact that the truck had bad recently had a new engine installed and their fast driving had bad overheated the truck until the engine froze on them the two are being held in ogden charged with auto theft and mr maine is also being charged with carrying a concealed weapon I 1 |
