| Show seen and heard on main street i 0 main alain street not just the two blocks of business section but main alain street running from the eastern underpass to the west one at the end of town is rather unique even for a country town on the south side we have five homes a new bakery of which we are ver very y proud then eleven more homes some wit once dubbed this etring string town the name still sticks then our two blocks of business houses and then several moie homes the laws and houses on string town are always neat clean and a pleasure to look at on the north side esthe union P pacific act ic railroad depot and the I 1 lawn awn always well kept with its flowering trees and shrubs well wednesday was declared annual cleanup clean up day most people did work hai d raked and cleaned and placed their rubbish in boxes outside to be picked up by the truck but the truck never came and the boxes are still there and the business blocks were sad for to them cleanup clean up day was a fizzle whether through lack of cooperation organization or what have you this part oy of the street was deserted toward evening a group of members of the garden club got busy on the iris beds at the west subway they weeded and cleaned and in no time had that part of the street looking beautiful good for you garden club saturday was a busy day in in town fathers and kids shopping for gifts for Bl mother other in one csore the 0 AT watched with interest inte iest and perhaps just a little envy a father and two daughters making their selection the younger girl about nine years of age fingered lovingly a box of handkerchiefs lace trimmed with mother alother written in letters of gold this was her selection I 1 hope that that mother received and showed as much joy as the little girl seemed to get in buying the handkins hand kies tuesday afternoon 48 first graders and their teachers mrs airs may rawle and miss bliss benon ferrol strolled through town two by two each one with a yellow pop sickle they had visited the public library each one had a smile as they passed such nicely behaved youngsters the few on the street made way for them as they passed this seen and heard is longer than usual but you know that the 0 al is taking advantage of the Ep persons absence you know when the cats away the mouse just plays maybe the caell get fired the thought scares me ill be seen yer so long |
