Show OUR MORGAN FOLKS one of a series of articles of business and profess professional professions iona men and women of morgan county A marked change in morgan county during his 38 years residence here particularly in the past five years is noted by james 31 logan telegraph operator for the union pacific railroad mr air logan came to morgan from green river wyo in may 1910 and has remained here since that time this is quite unusual for a railroad man to remain in in one locality for so long a time mr logan remarked we are usually moved from one spot to another he was born at green ridge mo and in 1902 he went to work for western union as a messenger boy at sedalia mo alo six months later he entered the service of the missouri pacific railroad as a messenger later learning telegraphy with this railroad ile he recalls that he was working in this position during the st louis worlds fair mr air logan also worked for the rock island for a short time he entered the service of the union pacific railroad november 1907 1007 at green river wyo and he married miss stella huggins in 1908 1008 tat at Center yiew mo they have one e daughter al mr 0 J kingston who lives at murray the thing that I 1 remember when moving to morgan was that we bought fresh eggs two dozen for a quarter when we had been paying CO 60 cents a dozen for storage eggs at green river mr air logan said in noting changes in this locality he called attention to the fact that the U P had just a single track until 1920 1926 and that at the present time virtually the entire system now has double track he has always been interested in amateur and professional sports ile he was manager of the morgan baseball club from 1927 to 1929 |
