Show EL ELEVEN BROTHERS R P POSE E FOR REUNION PICTURE A A W 0 eleven of the 13 living heiner brothers as they appeared at a reunion at como springs this summer they are arc front row george boswall ros Ko swall all moroni hamner john second row spencer sylvester henry and heber back row cash and brent ehte oldest son nephi and charles who lives in california were ere not present when picture was taken at a recent reunion of the daniel heiner descendants held at como springs 16 of the 19 children were present the 11 sons shown above and five daughters mrs airs sophie anderson mrs stella croft mrs fannie croft salt lake city mrs airs adelgunda taggart ogden and mrs airs lizzie thomas boise ida another daughter mrs airs disc ing in california was not present daniel heiner father of this family was born bom in pennsylvania november 27 akio when he was nine years old his family started for ut utah a h they travelled to pittsburgh with team and wagon from there they sailed down the ohio river on a lumber boat to st louis then transferred to a steamboat and came up the missouri river to council bluffs where a camp was established for the saints preparations were being made for the 1000 m mile he trek to utah and after three weeks at the camp the company started on their way the heiner family mother father and 10 children started off with a wagon and one yoke of oxen and one yoke of cows all their worldly possessions were in the wagon and those who could walk were compelled to walk all the way daniel walked the entire journey they arrived in salt lake city sept IG 1859 the family went through some very trying times the small daniel herded sheep and helped out any way he could in the family moved to morgan they came in the dead of winter arriving in morgan on daniels birthday in all his life daniel had less than six months schooling but he studied at night and when he was was 20 he taught school for a year he had III students from ABCs to the fifth reader some years later they acquired a nice ranch in echo canyon mr air heiner married ile he had bad two wives he was a staunch republican ile he served as mayor of morgan city for two years and was representative to the first state legislature in 1896 he was president of the first national bank of morgan for 10 years and on sept 16 1000 he was set apart as president of morgan stake and served for nearly 24 years he passed away aug 8 1931 at the age of 80 years and n nine i n e months leaving at that time his 19 children grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren his posterity now are too numerous to count he has left a family of fine men and women who have been an asset to the various corn com muni ties in which they have settled T to 0 apor such e h pioneers as daniel heiner morgan gan county owes an everlasting debt and his memory will live on an on in the minds of its citizens |
