Show porterville wins additional honors for beautification program porterville morgan county winner in the home beautification contest being sponsored by the state vocational agriculture department has been declared winner according to word received recently from mark nichols state director of vocational agriculture A beautiful trophy will be awarded the community mu anity of porterville saturday evening aug 23 in the coliseum at the state fair grounds to become eligible for awards it was necessary for a community to register through the agriculture department part ment of its local high school form a planning committee to outline proposed improvements and summary reports including before and after pictures of the sponsored projects H pratt wright t instructor tor in agriculture in the morgan high school has supervised the program in this county this project is financed by the sears roebuck grant which was presented to AT nichols a year ago by ed jenkins manager of sears roebuck store in salt lake city already checks from this grant for for porterville and for elmer lewis have been received as prizes for winning the county competition achievement in the area mr air nichols said will qualify porterville to compete with five other communities of the state for sweep stakes honors later in the fall |
