Show pac thomas H giles gives life for his country mrs emma spencer giles has re calved word that her son private first class thomas H giles 29 was killed in action in germany on november 2 1944 instead ot of slightly wounded as previously reported he was born may 6 1915 in milton a son of frederick william and emma spencer giles and was a member of the milton L D S ward morgan stake and an elder in the church lie ile was graduated from morgan high school and L D S seminary in 1933 and an d was engaged in farming when ht he entered the service january 4 1944 he received his basic training at camp wheeler ga he was home on furlough last july and had received three medals for expert marksmanship he returned after his furlough to fort meade md and arrived overseas in september 1944 he landed in england and marched through paris luxembourg and into germany arriving in germany on september 29 survivors include his mother one brother arthur giles morgan and three sisters mrs ada thurston morgan mrs lula barker salt lake city and mrs ethel ogden |
