Show BALLAST PLANT TO BE AT EVANSTON AT ONCE A modern gravel ballast processing plant to cost and which will employ 30 men from 3 to 5 months each year will be erected at a cubic yard gravel deposit near evanston the union pacific railroad has authorized the utah sand and gravel products corporation of salt lake city to erect the plant and operate it under a contract with the railroad construction will begin early in P april the plant will be ready to operate on may 15 according to officials capacity of the plant will be from to carloads of processed gravel per day it will be highly mec mechanized bani zed powered by electricity the gravel ballast produced will be a 3 high type material crushed to specifications of the railroad and will be used to improve roadbeds on the wyoming division main line from O ogden oden den to cheyenne wyo and from granger wyo to mccammon idaho it is expected that cubic bards of gravel will be delivered to the railroad in 1940 |
