| Show 3 UTAH OIL COMPANIES PUSH DRILLING WORK with the clo close se of the year 1939 attree oil companies are at work in an effort to place grand county utah on the oil production map the cane creek oil company operating on the cane creek dome down the colorado river from moab has installed tubing and rods and is pumping water and oil the column of fluid having been lowered to close to feet total depth of the well is feet it I 1 Is s th the F intention to keep pumping operations operation at work steadily As the column of fluid is lowered the volume of oil is II I 1 increasing according to manager W H heady it is the belief of the operators that commercial production will be proved during the coming week at the big six oil companas Comp anys well on the salt valley anticline about nine miles south of thompsons Thomp sons drilling operations have been proceeding steadily during duriac 0 the past week ak eek this this is a test of the cretaceous formation the objective being the dakota sand which should be encountered at feet or thereabouts the depth was reported by manager F W strong at about feet and the drill should reach feet by the end of the week the formation being drilled is the mancos shale and to date no water whatever has been encountered the indications at the well appear to be exceptionally favorable and developments 1 of interest may be expected v within athin the next few days another oil test got under way the past week when W P F reeder of the crescent eagle oil company started rigging up for a dakota test located one mile south of the original crescent eagle well some six miles southwest of thompsons Thomp sons A star no 30 drilling machine will be used in the test mr reeder has a crew of six men at work and operations are being rushed moab times independent |
