Show historic rocks used in construction st of pioneer marker history of the rocks furnished by the daughters of utah pioneers of morgan county for the marker built near the pioneer cabin by mr charles young in june 1937 some of these rocks represent pioneer industries others came from buildings erected by the pioneers and some from streams and canyons used by the people who first settled morgan county mt joy camp daughter hattie robison gielner ri 14 elner einer one rock from the place where the jabin robison barn is here her childhood was spent it was here that daniel williams built a two room log dwelling house about his wife harriet thurston williams kept the post postoffice office and taught school there some distance south of this spot daniel williams operated a lime kiln and burned all the lime used in the construction of the railroad through the county in 1863 there were four brothers came to morgan county they were william daniel david and eph raint robison two of the brothers located on the north side there were springs on both of their places one is known as the william robison springs and supplies water for the U P railroad and for morgan city so his daughter rachel robison rogers has selected rocks from the spring on thu this property also daughter sarah carlson robison 0 n selected hers from the daniel robison hobison spring as a souvenir of the physical labors in tilling the soil and helping to build up and maintain a commonwealth captain vinnie clayton took a trip up echo canyon may 22 1937 and gathered a rock to be placed in our monument in memory of all those noble pioneers who came through echo canyon daughter lottle lottie robison grover gave a rock from the old building on the conrad smith property representing early industry and substantial workmanship of our early pioneers as conrad smith was one of our first class masons daughter rachel heiner donated a very old rock out of her fathers grainery gral nery wall a building that stands today and is in good condition daughter amy west heiner selected ec ted a rock from the foundation also a piece of brick from tile the home of george heiner which was built in the year of 1874 all the material that was used in this house george did work for he hauled wood from the hills with oxen to pay for his brick which were made by charles turner daughter lavina robison redden gave a rock from what used to be her aher fathers property but which now belongs to the north morgan ward being donated by her brother george franklin rolson tor for this purpose we also have a piece ol of the red sandstone from the hills of round valley donated by daughter mable boyce heiner the me rock was made into a grind stone by mortin helner heiner a pioneer of 1863 who built the first rock house in this county daughters stewart palmer and fern lowe palmer gathered rocks from the old home that was built by henry rock when he first came to morgan it was later purchased by thomas palmer one of the pioneers of this county at this time he and his family lived there many years Dau daughter ahter winnie grover farnsworth gathered rocks from the land her father thomas grover used to own daughter blanche thackeray rees one red sandstone rock that was brought from croydon from the home of pioneer george thackeray which house Is now in course of remodeling it is to represent the P pioneers of heavy stones were placed in the bottom of ships to prevent them from tipping this one was hauled across the plains by ox team and brought to richville before 1866 called burr stones A number of rocks were used that came ame r out of the morgan stake house these opre brought from the quarry in 1877 mrs jane stevens foote went to echo canyon on sunday june 13 1937 and selected a rock from near her birthplace which was near a large rock by the side of the present state highway the children living livine in echo canyon at the time she lived there used to sit on this large rock and watch the trains as they passed sometimes the passengers would throw oranges to them mrs annie foote sommers brot a rock from the land on an which she is now living this rock was buted for many years for a
