| Show weed control program Is announced the state weed control committee has arranged a program to assist the various counties in th the state in weed control C mm ision er david F P smith informed county agent C R richards that the state I 1 department was prepared to cooperate l erate with the counties in the use of fund appropriated by the last legislature tor for this work commissioner smith was in conference with mr richards on tuesday af hernoon and teneta tive plans were agreed upon for a weed control program in morgan county mr richards reports that the co committee will be called together immediately and it is hoped that they will be able to agree upon a program to follow the committee in the county consists of one county commissioner the county agrical i tural agent a representative of the thel I 1 state department of 0 agriculture the he county W P A supervisor and the he president of the county farm farm bureau mr richards states that weeding machines are now available for cultivation ti of weeds and that if pre senty plans mater alize a county weed supervisor will be appointed appoint to locate the noxious weeds in the county and work out a system to rotate the use of weeding machines later in the season isolated weed patches those especially that cannot be controlled through cultivation ti will be sprayed with weed chemical the cultivation programs program pro graml should be going now mr richards states and the first thing necessary I 1 is to plow the weed infested ground I 1 and work it smooth as in preparing a seed bed the weeding machi machines nesi can then be used once each week to cut the weeds under th the surface of the ground with the whole hearted epport of the f farmers mr richards states that most of the noxious weeds in the county can be destroyed more information will be given when the details of I 1 the program have been arranged |
