Show PRESS RELEASE FROM UTAH PROGRESS administration A few complaints have come to the attention of the utah works progress administration to the effect that some relief clients are refusing to take temporary private employment s uch such as work in beet fields for fear that while they are so temporarily employed they will miss out on opportunities to be called to work on works progress administration projects these clients are warned that thai they must not refuse to accept private employment even though it Is of a temporary nature to refuse private employment is to run the risk of being cut oft off from the list of those persons eligible to work on federal aided projects ts the general policy with regard regard to refusal to accept private employment is stated as follows all persons certified as e eligible on W P A projects are expected to accept jobs with private employ employers ersi when hen work suitable to their training and experience Is offered at wages generally generall 7 paid and under c conditions normally prevailing in the community unless in the judg ment of the local W P A such proffered employment is unduly hazardous or otherwise 1 in the everit event any such person refuses to accept suitable employ ment offered to him he may be dropped from the list of certified eligible gible persons i utah relief officials find enczur 1 argement in reports of increases increase in the number of temporary jobs in private employment employ ment and they are insisting that relief clients maker makel every effort to take advantage of j such opportunities the social socia i ser vice divisions in the several county relief offices are instructed to call i 1 to the attention of relief clients opportunities port unities for employment and it if clients refuse to take jobs at wages generally paid and under conditions normally prevailing in the community |
