Show MORGAN WATER USERS I 1 MUST WATER due to the fact that the past summer m er and fall lias has been one of the driest in the history ot of morgan county and most parts of utah an order has been received from the state engineer that all care possible must be taken to preserve the water for next year and engineer T H humphrys has ordered all flowing wells of the th state slate to be closed unless the water is being put to beneficial use in connection with this water conservation program pro gaam sam county agent C R richards suggests that the water now in the irrigation canals be put to beneficial use by irrigating alfalfa fields or watering other ground to put it in shape for fall or spring plowing he sto states altes that fall fail irrigating is very beneal cial and many farms may be bene fitted by using some of the water now going to waste mr richards states that this means of moistening the ground may help to do much fall plowing which otherwise would be left until next spring which in most cases Is not as good as fa fall 11 plowed land and spring plowing also takes the time that could well be devoted to planting crops and other rush work of the spring season it if we have an open fall as we have had for several years there is s still time for irrigation and plowing of many fields it is the general era 1 opinion that unless we have an abundant supply of snow that we may experience another dry season next year and that it would be well to conserve any moisture that la is now being lost |
