Show MORGAN POTATO FIELDS UNDERGO RIGID inspection state seed ln inspector gilden stoker spent last thursday and friday in morgan county inspecting potato fields for certification in company with county agent richards mr stoker inspected fields owned by 17 growers some of whom had several di ferent varieties of potatoes mr richards states that of the 17 farms visited 14 of the growers had potatoes that passed the first inspection three of the fields were rejected for certification I 1 on the first inspection due to a high percent of disease mr stoker will make two more visits to the potatoe fields and if the percent of ul disease nazlu Is 1 found to be low and the grower continues to rogue out disease and undesirable plants the fields will pass the next inspection for certification the potatoes that passed these inspections before they can be sold as certified seed must be graded as to size and quality then the state certification tag can be used mr ml stoker reported a few of the fields in excellent condition better than he has seen in any county in the state thus far and he is almost done with his first tour of inspection seed growers should go through their fields frequently to be sure that no disease plants remain in the field |
