Show irrigation project at mountain green approved by S C S the morgan soil conservation district has received approval to enter eilf r into a working agreement with the northwest irrigation company lor for an irrigation improvement project near mountain fountain green the completed project can bring an added acreage into food production this year according to 0 W rollins chairman of the board surveys and plans have been completed by the soil conservation service to increase the storage capacity of the I 1 reservoir known its as the pond hole res 1 the new construction will replace a storage structure which when last used held approximately 08 acre feet of water and served some arres ar res of farm land under the project a storage for acre feet has been applied for sufficient water can be stored for approximately acles of land mr hollins said the reservoir will be built with two alvo earth dams one ot at each end of the old pond new inlets outlets and controls will be con acted the distribution trib ution system is to be revised also the irrigation improvement Is expected to increase the production of canning potatoes small grains and hay Bene fitting farmers will contribute approximately in labor and materials terl als the S C S will loan available heavy equipment furnish technical assistance si and supervision district officials plan to have hae the reservoir functioning in timeto get the land andi into maximum war production tion this year |
