Show City Council Cound Adopts 1964 1965 Budget The Manti ManU city council members members members mem mem- bers reviewed the budget for 65 1984 at its last meeting held last Monday evening in the city council chambers After di discussing cussing different accounts receipts and expenditures a motion was made by Councilman Council Council- man Ray Lund with a second by Councilman Ben Kjar that the budget b be adopted All members rs present voted aye Raymond Jensen cochairman co chair man of the July Fourth celebration celebration celebration cele cele- bration and a member of the Jaycees told the council that expenses had gone up on items needed for the celebration He said that if the event was to tobe tobe tobe be be carried en cn in as good a manner as it had been in the past additional funds must be made available Councilman Lund made a motion with Councilman R. R Morgan Dyreng Dyreng Dy Dy- Dyreng reng offering a second that be allocated instead of the amount given in past years All voted yes A report given by Mayor Garbe told of a meeting which the Mayor Councilman Cox Cox- and Kjar had attended concerning con conS power allocations from federal power plants It was noted that Manti is presently drawing federal power from Flaming Gorge The city started started started start start- ed using this federal power last week It was also noted that the city could buy additional additional additional ad ad- blocks of federal power pow pow- er if it was found that the amount now being purchased was not sufficient The mayor pointed out that the city had hadnot hadnot not signed up for a larger amount because the city would have to pay for the power even if they didn't use it It was also pointed out that the city is drawing mostly during the day from the federal power pow pow- er with very little federal power pow pow- er being used between midnight midnight midnight mid mid- night and morning A meeting was h held ld with Bruce Jennings concerning the use of the Manti ManU City Park baseball diamond by the local local local lo lo- lo- lo cal Little League and Pony League squads A report of this meeting was given by Councilman Ray Cox wherein he stated that he and Councilman Councilman Councilman Coun Coun- cilman Lund found that Mr Jennings wanted to have three items taken care of and he would not voice any objection to the use of the park dia dia- mon mend mond The three items were 1 Adult supervision at all times whether it be for games or pr practice 2 Wire net set setup setup setup up close to his home and 3 Boys to contribute to fund to help pay for any damages in in- Mr Jennings had several several several sev sev- eral windows broken on his hiscar hiscar hiscar car and at his home last year It was noted that at the present present present pres pres- ent time the Pony League contests contests contests con con- tests are being held at the Legion Legion Legion Le Le- Le- Le gion Park Councilman Ben Kj Kjar ar said that a fire break was needed at the dump He also said that the weeds should be sprayed at the airport before t the e work begins on the runway runway run run- w way y soon Editors Editor's note word was received received received re re- re- re by City Recorder Bart Peterson after the meeting that work at the airport is scheduled to begin Friday City Electrician Lucian Carlson Carlson Carlson Carl Carl- son is making up a report of places in town where transformers transformers transformers trans trans- formers and lines are overloaded overloaded overloaded over over- loaded according to Councilman Councilman Council Council- man marl Kjar He said that new lines would be installed in these areas running through the middle of the block if property owners will give their consent It was also noted that the Council will travel up to Jets Reservoir to inspect first hand the ditch running into Jets Councilman Dyreng made a motion that a portion of the city ordinance pertaining to markers in the cemetery be printed to be handed out to all buying lots in the tery It was noted in the motion motion motion mo mo- mo- mo tion that upright markers are not legal all markers must be of the flat variety Councilman Councilman Coun Coun- cilman Gilman Cox offered a second to the motion with all members members members mem mem- bers of f the council giving their approval Councilman Cox suggested that Mayor Garbe contact the Legion Auxiliary president to see if they would be interested interest interest- ed in decorating the city float |
