Show Stake presidency asks council to consider sale of ground The three members of the South Sanpete Stake Presidency met with the Manti ManU City Council Monday night during the regular business session of the council The stake leaders told the council that the Church is still Interested in purchasing ing the land owned by the city near the Manti Temple They Invited the mayor and council to see a number of slides that have been prepared to show plans which have been formulated for that area It was decided to meet in the club clubrooms clubrooms clubrooms rooms on Tuesday night Jan 27 at which time the slides would be shown Councilman Don Olsen said that a bulge in the floor loor at the club rooms had been repaired He also turned over from the Manti Mantl Ladles Ladies Literary Club for the camel carDet In fh the library n n J club rooms This was their share of the carpet cost The city paid the other half Mr Olsen noted that the Literary Literary Literary Lit Lit- Club had also bought new drapes for the room The city had purchased chairs paneling and other items The council and mayor complimented the groups on their parts in getting the renovation work done The council also discussed the business licenses It was decided to proceed to check checkwith with the Utah League asto as asto asto to systems used by other cities to make sure that all businesses are treated equally Councilmen Olsen said that the city is in the process of bf a hp I I at the swimming pool He said that some bids have been re received received received re- re but more study will be given to the matter before any decision is made He also reported that the trees at the park had been trimmed trimmed trimmed trim trim- med as well as those by the city hall hail He noted that the county agent felt that this would be a good time of the year for citizens to do their tree trimming trimming trimming trim trim- ming work This would also make a good start for the 1970 up clean-up program he con con- eluded Councilman Frank said that dogs pestering sheep and livestock has now become a serious problem He said that people are not taking care of their dogs Mr pointed point point- ed out that this time of year Is always critical in the matter of dogs banding together and killing livestock The council said that they had hoped that the licensing of dogs would help to cu curb b this annual problem The matter of building permits permits permits per per- mits was brought up by Councilman Councilman Coun Coun- cilman R. R Morgan Dyreng He explained that any work done on a public building which Undergoes un undergoes undergoes un- un any type of remodelIng remodeling remodeling remodel remodel- ing rust be done with the city building Inspector Clarence Clanence Clarence Clar Clan ence Anderson checking pe periodically periodically periodically pe- pe on the work Mr Dyreng said that any private Individuals planning any renovation work on their homes should check first with Mr Anderson Anderson Anderson An An- derson to see what procedures must be followed before the work Is started All persons contemplating the start of a new structure must have a building permit before they start work Mr Dyreng concluded It was pointed out that there is a dark area to the east of the Armory It was decided to install lights in that area with the automatic devices to turn them on and off as it gets light and dark The council discussed a piece of property on the south side of Manti Mantl which the city owns It was pointed out that several persons had Inquired about the possibility of purchasing the ground The council felt that the city really didn't have any particular use for the ground and perhaps would consider the sale of the ground If It would be used for some use that would be beneficial to the city The council passed a motion to have City Attorney Don V.
