received numerous comments Kenny Tuttle local Fish and Game conservation off officer leer said that he had gone for a short safari Into the west mountains on Sunday March 1 and It was like spring there The following Tuesday he again ventured Into that area only to be greeted by snow between a foot to 14 inches deep Mrs Rulon E Elda Ida of Ephraim stated at the NorthWard North NorthWard NorthWard Ward dinner in Manti ManU Friday night that she has been crusading crusading crusading ing for the past few years In an attempt to air our different weather here She noted that there were several weather stations stations stations sta sta- in the county and this alone would give accurate read read- ings Manti ManU City Councilman Frank came into the office and noted that he was not only talking talking talking talk talk- ing about the weather but was going to do something about it t tto to see that others are told about what goes on here He told me the story of how he commented which are necessary for this work and is setting about to organize organize or or- or- or his weather station He emphasized that he was not in any way interfering with or trying to replace the existing weather stations in the county He is carrying on this work asmore as asmore asmore more of a hobby and service to the television station If Jf anything unusual happens now Frank can relay the information In Information Information in- in formation via a collect call to Mr Eubank who will use it on his Ws weather program I q thought of a fine ine idea today dear I promised a thousand taken This week the Census Bureau sent me a population chart of the state of ot Utah going back to 1850 showing each county and its growth In scanning the sheet I noted that Sanpete was the tenth largest largest largest larg larg- est county in the state back in 1960 We were edged out by Salt Lake County Box Elder Cache Carbon Davis Tooele Uintah Utah and Weber Coun Coun- ties Ues When you flash back to the 1850 census Sanpete showed residents as compared to In Salt Lake County 2026 in Utah County 1186 in Weber 1134 in Davis in Iron and In Tooele By the time that the 1860 census rolled roIled around Sanpete had grown to residents as compared to in Salt Lake County A number of other counties are shown in the 1860 report The total population of the state had risen from in 1850 to in 1860 Sanpete's population was listed listed list list- ed at 11 in 1880 This was larger than the 1960 figure of It was In the year 1880 that a portion of oC Sanpete was taken along with parts from Sevier and Wasatch Counties to form Emery County By the year 1890 Sanpete had grown to residents When 1900 arrived there were residents occupying the valley Subsequent census reports listed listed listed list list- ed the following for Sanpete 1910 1920 1930 1940 1950 and 1960 Some of the 1960 figures for forthe forthe forthe the counties surrounding Sanpete Sanpete Sanpete San San- pete showed MahU man had seen this musical musical musical musi musi- cal on Broadway with a famous actress taking the role of Dolly His comment was that Susan had done as good a Job 1 if not dM s better than the professionals Other comments ranged from the fact that the show could be put on or the Broadway stage right now and no apologies would be needed One visiting educator from the University of Utah said
