P The Manti ManU Camp of the Daughters Daugh Daugh- of Utah Pioneers met Monday Monday Monday Mon Mon- day March lIth in the Center Ward Relief Society room The meeting was conducted by Captain Captain Captain Cap Cap- tain Stella Lund She explained that the meeting was being held in the chapel to honor the organization organization organization or or- of the Manti ManU DUP which was organized March 21 1911 57 years ago She reported that there were 60 in attendance at the first meeting The group sang Come Come Ye Saints conducted by Cleo Christensen and accompanied by Ephia Kjar Minutes of the 1911 meeting were read by Secretary Ireta Merriam The laws by-laws and constitution of that first gathering gathering gathering gather gather- ing were outlined by Capt Lund She also explained the requirements requirements requirements require require- ments set up to become a DUP member Caroleen Mackey sang I Cannot Cannot Cannot Can Can- not Sing The Old Songs She was was' accompanied by Eunice A. A Garbe Mrs Lund told of the first women in Manti who joined the DUP Mrs L. L R. R Anderson was one of these women and because of illness she was unable to attend attend attend at at- tend the Monday meeting She was represented by her daughter daugh daugh- ter Mrs Lucille Keller She read reada a message from her mother Mrs Ellice Moffitt was noted as one of the original Manti mem mem- bers She paid a tribute to William William William Wil Wil- liam Fowler who wrote We Ve Thank Thee Oh God For a Prophet Corsages of Sego lillies were presented to Mrs Moffitt and Mrs L. L R. R Anderson The group sang We Thank Thee Oh God For A Prophet Mrs Eunice Garbe was There were 34 members and three guests in attendance The next meeting will be held heldon on Monday April 8 |
