you recall the night during the war years that Manti High School played a basketball game with witha a n team of Japanese internees from Topaz in the high school gym It seems a n small thing tiring now for forr the animosities of war have faded but Mel l Luke Luk and I scheduled scheduled scheduled that game in fear and trembling We Ve feared the en criticism criticism cri cri- Hint brat we felt would surely be ours we feared the nasty incidents that might develop during the game we feared the ugly smell of hate that might be in the air nir In short we were a couple of faint hearts putting pulling up a bold front I believe that we persisted in ingoing ingoing ingoing going through with the game in spite of our misgivings because conscience or a n certain sense of American fair play told us that it was our obligation to do so I suppose we felt it a n duty as ns men to stand up for what we felt fell was right and run the risk of unpopularity I think that good sportsmanship sportsman sportsman- ship and high standards and fair play piny are characteristic of M 1 a n n t i basketball and these II traits were never better exemplified exemplified exemplified exem exem- than in that
