team was accorded a grea great t welcome Monday afternoon when they returned from t Hutchinson Kansas where they won second place in the 0 National Junior College Basketball Tournament The Badgers lost the championship game to Moberly Mo in an overtime game on Saturday night The Badgers won the right to go to the National meet by winning the Region 4 tournament held in Ephraim the thelast last week in February They left for Hutchinson by car carthe carthe the morning of March 6 ti and few sports writers thought they IL would get by the first night Team Thinks Differently But Coach Williams and his players had a different idea they met Conors Texas on Tuesday night Mar 9 and came away with a 53 46 victory which the sports writers labeled a sur sur- prise Next night they were to play Northeast Mississippi 1 the team favored to win the tournament Fans in Ephraim and elsewhere in Utah got busy and sent dozens dozens dozens doz doz- ens of congratulation and good luck telegrams These messages according to C Coach o 0 a c h Williams added just the extra spark that was needed and the Badgers dunked the hopes of the Mississippians l by winning a 72 69 victory The Snow team rested ular period which ended in a 46 deadlock The extra five- five minute period saw the greater height of the Moberly team really become effective and the period ended with Snow on the short end of a 55 49 count Snow Goes Ahead Snow led 13 11 at the quarter and Moberly tied it up a 13 and then went ahead 17 13 and then 19 14 but it was tied again again again a- a gain at 20 and then at 25 the half the Board of Trustees have recognized Coach Williams as a very outstanding coach and this has been a climax year with championships in baseball last spring football last fall faU and now in basketball
