L Poulson You spoke of the ilie obstacle that confronted this young man while there In your article you spoke of quack doctors however you failed ailed to mention the fact that there is in Manti at the present time an older and more experienced veterinarian Dr Henry Henry Henry Hen Hen- ry Voorhees who in iii the opinion of most Manti ManU people is no quack I 1 know Dr Voorhees graduated from rom one of the Eastern Colleges of Veterinary Science and also having having having hav hav- ing had Dr Henry Voorhees care carl for my animals while living in Manti I know of his work and know that he is hard to beat and also that he is a natural lover of ani ani- mals I also know that Henry has had to put up with these same obstacles for fOl I have heard him speak of them at different times myself Now Mr Cox I feel eel that the last paragraph of your article is un unnecessary unnecessary unnecessary un- un necessary and certainly uncalled for And in my opinion deserves a written apology in a future edition edition edition edi edi- tion which I hope to read As Asan Asan Asan an editor of a small smaIl town paper I suggest from experience in dea- dea ing with people in general be more mote cautious in writing your future articles You should know that you cannot offend people and still expect to sell your our papers Sincerely E E. G. G Anderson Publishers Publisher's Reply We Ve certainly do apologize to Dr Henry Voorhees if our editorial of last week offended him or proved a detriment to his practice When writing the editorial referred to we fully realized that there was a capable Doctor of Veterinary medicine medicine medicine med med- in Manti The point we meant to put over was that this county could support another Veterinarian Veterinarian Veterinarian Vet Vet- if all ll the quacks were removed We Ve at no time referred to Dr Voorhees as a quack Corwe for Cor forwe forwe we know he is a graduate student of veterinary medicine and that he has proved very successful in his care of animals When in the last paragraph of our editorial we asked that a new doctor be supported if he comes to Manti we didn't mean that all of Dr Voorhees' Voorhees patients should im immediately immediately tar tar- mediately subscribe to the new doctor A veterinarian must rely on calls from all over the county and we still believe that another doctor could find a good practice in Manti and Sanpete County without without without with with- out hurting the practices of the two Veterinarians now practicing practicing- but only when the quacks are cleared clemed out and the farmers cometo come cometo to rely on professional proCessional men to care for their animals We Ve talked to Dr Voorhees this week and apologized for or any misunderstanding misunderstanding misunderstanding mis mis- understanding brought forth through Continued on page 5 CORRESPONDENCE Continued from page 1 our editorial Dr Voorhees agreed with Dr Poulson in that the state stale offers no protection against quacks Dr Voorhees also said that as a Veterinarian he has made small gains in Sanpete and that he lelies relics relies re- re lies on his sheep and and md farm for a 3 living If any offense was taken from I our editorial of last week we sincerely sincerely sincerely sin sin- apologize to Dr Voorhees and to Dr W.
