Show CHURCH OFFICIAL URGES FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR HOSPITAL Quoting Brigham Young as having said that the mission of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Latter Saints is to build up the Kingdom of God on earth a material as well as a spiritual kingdom Elder Ezra Taft Benson of the quorum of twelve apostles of the Church urged the people of Sanpete to get together and stay together to finish the hospital at Mt Pleasant TT u. u L I H nis is p plea piea I ea was made maae at a meeting m ung and ana banquet held in the Mt Pleasant South ward chapel and recreation hall Friday night with about persons from the county in attendance Brigham Brigham Brigham Brig- Brig ham Young had said that the material part of the Kingdom of God must include such things as schools homes churches hospitals temples etc th the speaker said Elder Benson started his remarks just after the people in the back of the chapel had been asked to take the forward seats and he said he was glad lad d to see the people come to the front and you must get together and stay together in order to finish this hospital program He spoke of this being a lovely valley and said it is impossible to measure accurately the values which will come from this hospital project to the present generation and their posterity just as it is impossible to measure accurately all the advantages of living in America Speaks of Europe Elder Benson referred to the singing of America by the congregation and said he loves that song and loves it even more since home from Europe where he traveled miles through the war-torn war countries Since then he has always been impressed with the blessedness of this land and has tried to count the blessings enjoyed en enjoyed enjoyed en- en joyed here and which are had by few or none in other lands he saidI saidI said I ClI wish every American could be forced no I dont don't like that word forced forred could be required to spend three or four weeks in war torn Europe Europe Eur Ew ope so as more fully to appreciate what we have in this land Elder Benson said He then said there are but two systems of government in important places in the world today Democracy Democracy Democracy Demo Demo- cracy and Communism He had seen both of these at very close range in Poland Austria Finland etc and he told of the love of liberty and of self determination held by the people He then quoted war-torn war countries had been much better cared for than others due to the Welfare program Elder Benson then told of his visit to East Prussia now a part of Poland Poland Poland Po Po- Po- Po land and of how the people there had been pillaged and ravished time and time again mostly by the military and how they feared anyone in uni uni- form He told of meetings held in a small branch there and how of 23 holders of the priesthood only two remained the other 21 having been killed or taken away as prisoners of war War Vor Is Hell lIell While war is hell it is not as bad for the military as for Dutch Saints had sent their good wishes and brotherly love to the members of the church in Germany the country that had so ravished Holland during the war There could not be war anion among B people
