H Putnam of the Dixie College music faculty and shop of the St. St George Fourth Ward Vard Bishop Putnam arranged tor or housing for members of the orchestra Friday evening and along uong with his wife and other members of his ward organized a Saturday luncheon for the group The programs rendered by members of the orchestra In Included Included included In- In Fugue from The Messiah by Handel and Summer Summer Summer Sum mer Romance written by Prof Richard Nibley ed Allegro by Bach with Lydia Nibley as violin soloist Two German folk songs were played by Lisa Cameron Cameron Cameron Cam Cam- eron Nielson Melissa Nibley and Sylvia Nibley Andla Andia Peterson Peterson Peterson Peter Peter- son Joy Johnson and Lydia Nibley then played Trio de Valse by Hermann Cradle Son The Butterfly by Schumann Schumann Schumann mann was rendered by Alice Hedelius Hedell us B Bobbi Sue Gray Kevin Phenes and Gay Lauritzen Professor Nibley accompanied by his wife wile Nadine played Slavonic Dance by Dvorak- Dvorak Kreisler They played an encore selection Neil Baker and Teena Furner Snow College students played two duets by Bach Bishop Putnam sang Prologue Prologue Prologue Pro logue to a composition composition composition compo compo- of Leoncavallo He was accompanied by his wife Mar- Mar tine The final two selections of the evening were played by the entire orchestra under the baton of Prof Nibley Their final offerings were two Gavottes by Bach and When Thou Art Near The orchestra was made up of 30 Snow College students Ephraim Ephraim Ephraim Eph Eph- raim Elementary School students students students stu stu- dents and Sanpete residents There were 15 members of the group playing violin three on violas four cellists and Professor Professor Professor Pro Pro- fessor Nibley played the bass for one number Professor Nibley extended his public thanks to South Sanpete Sanpete San San- pete pate School District Superintendent Superintendent Superintendent Winston Gleave Cleave and the board of education for their support in starting the string program In the district and for their part in helping with the arrangements to enable the or orchestra orchestra orchestra or- or chestra to travel to St. St George for the concert |
