Show Enthusiastically e D oo e D eBy RI II By Br Max Call I And away we go with the first humble attempt at an editors editor's column An editors editor's column of course is about the only place an editor can talk about himself and get away with wilh It In the news columns of a well-edited well newspaper you always have to quote someone else even If its it's only a vague reliable source On the editorial page an editor must refer to himself as we twe which means the collective collective collective tive thought of those operating and writing the newspaper But In an editors editor's column at last we can say I fI and get away with it So go ahead and ask why a column should be headed Enthusiastically I can hardly pronounce it let alone spell It Actually there are several reasons In the first place its it's different Many editors use a play on their own name which Is very clever With a name like Call It shouldn't be too hard to come up with something like urn Call Calling the Shots All from Call my brother in W Wyoming calls his Callin Around But Im I'm the kind of ot a guy who likes to be differ differ- ent Secondly much has been written about enthusiasm by many profound writers making it easy to plagiarize hows how's that for a two- two dollar word Most editors get their pithy Ideas out of a book or magazine and look how easy that will be with a heading like Ilke Enthusiasm Seriously and this is the real reason I selected such a heading it most nearly exemplifies the way I try to live and conduct my roy business Im I'm an optimist I was born excited and I hope to make each day more enthusiastic than the last one I believe that enthusiasm is the little recognized secret o of success success in Wilson in any endeavor Woodrow said Without enthusiasm there is no progress In to the world He was right If II you look the word up in the dictionary you'll find tind that it means from its derivation en en within within you and theos meaning spirit Literally then the words mean The spirit within you I like hike that And d the thing I guess Im I'm most enthusiastic about right now Is living In the Ephraim Manta area What beautiful unspoiled country what wonderful people Ive I've been here for nearly two months now and am more Impressed every I fb day y with the marvelous opportunity o of living and associating with such fine ine people Ive I've had a lot of firsts since taking over the we two newspapers my first experience with the tte offset process proc ss my apologies to those of You Ou whom I made look hideous with m my first ahem attempts to print pictures offset my first cussing out by an irate man concerning the do dog g Poisonings who informed me that I wouldn't would- would f nt Print the truth even l if I heard It and on and onKs on l I 1 Its It's be been en great and my family and I love It I Perhaps the irate man was like this farmer A farmer once called his cow Zephyr She I seemed such an amiable When the farmer drew near She kicked off oft his ear II Which made him considerably drablY A couple of weeks ago I wanted to get a picture of Ephraim's new fire truck Only trouble was we couldn't get it out of the garage garage It it had a dead battery Fire Chief Spencer Olsen assured me the other day that the problem had been corrected and that the new unit was ready for action Our Classified Ad section really got results re results results re- re for my wife wHee She advertised a couple of beds for tor sale sold them the same day and weve we've had at least 15 additional calls on them Speaking of classified ads how about this one FOR SALE one slightly used Love Seat or will exchange for Occasional Chair The entire community will indeed greatly miss Pres R.
