Show Shots from mountain By KENNETH TUTTLE Conservation Officer Utah Fish and Game There Is one phase of our Fish and Game operation that the general public doesn't ap appear appear appear ap- ap pear to know too much about This concerns the operation and maintenance of our fish ish hatcheries During 1970 a total of fish ish weighing pounds were distributed to lakes and streams throughout the state The existing demand placed upon these hatcheries is very great because of the increased fishing pressure and the creation creation creation crea crea- tion of ot new fishing waters throughout the state Our present present pre pre- present sent hatcheries because of this additional load are deteriorating deteriorating deteriorating and are in need of remodeling re remodeling remodeling re- re modeling and repair In order to keep up and maIntain maintain maintain main maIn- tain our fisheries program atthe at atthe atthe the present level increased funds must be made available to update the present hatchery facilities and to build new hatcheries on suitable water supplies The Utah Division of Fish and Game maintains 12 of these hatcheries that are dispersed throughout the state The public public public pub pub- lic Is invited to visit at any of these installations at anytime any anytime anytime time and observe the operation and see what is being done The water outlook for the coming season appears to bevery be bevery bevery very good and these hatcheries are all stocked to capacity The 1971 angling proclamation is out and the general fishing season opens May 29 29 |
