Show Shots from the mountain By KENNETH TUTTLE Conservation Officer Division of Wildlife Resources On Saturday September 25 the hunting season opens on grouse partridge turkey and cottontail rabbit Duck season will wiIl open on October 2 while the geese season is slated for opening on October 23 Pheasant Pheasant Pheasant Phea Phea- sant and quail seasons will wiIl open November 13 During the elk hunt the firearm firearm fire fire- arm restriction for temporary game preserves does not apply to upland game bird or cottontail cottontail cotton cotton- tail taU rabbit hunters using shot shot- guns Temporary game preserves are also closed to cougar and bear hunting during prescribed seasons Again you are reminded that it is unlawful to carry a loaded firearm in or upon any motor vehicle in Utah This Includes motorcycles trail bikes and snowmobiles You can transport firearms In or on a vehicle with live rounds In the clip or magazine but not in the firing Iring chamber Shooting from a vehicle ve vehicle vehicle ve- ve hicle or from or across a public road is also prohibited Special precautions should be taken when you are dressIng dressing dressing dress dress- ing or handling small game such as cottontail rabbits There Is positive evidence that the disease disease disease dis dis- ease can be transmitted transmitted transmitted trans trans- from animals to humans When handling or dressing these animals be very careful and never take a chance if it you have open sores or cuts on your hands Use rubber gloves The meat Is edible If iC properly cooked but do not take game if it It appears to be sickly or does not look good It Is not worth the chance |
